project 365 - day 308

Football ends, soccer begins. It really is never-ending. I guess that's part of the joy of parenting, right? Right?

project 365 - day 307

I got this vase forever ago from Wilton-Faraway, and I've been working on figuring out what I wanted to put in it. I picked up some silk flowers from Michael's. Not sure I'm done yet, but at least it's a start. Better than an empty vase, in any case.

project 365 - day 306

I managed to score some free tix to the Lightning game through a scrapbooking friend. We've been before, plenty of times, but this game was particularly good because a) they won, which is always a bonus; and b) we had some very entertaining regulars nearby who were amusing me to no end. They had cheers and chants and noisemakers, etc. I mean, wow. And they were completely decked out, face painted, the whole nine. They were simply fabulous. I love spirit! =)

project 365 - day 305

We may have rotting pumpkins, but we do have a cool setup in the yard this year. This is a photo of our dead guy. Little hard to see in the dark, but I dig him (no pun intended).

project 365 - day 304

It's that time of year again, to pick pumpkins from the pumpkin patch. Down here in the heat, you can't actually carve them until about the 30th, because they will rot pretty much instantly. Actually this year, they are already starting to rot despite waiting to carve them. Most at the patch were rotting. Ugh. I'm kind of doubtful that they'll all even make it till Halloween, actually.

project 365 - day 303

Nicole was playing with the camera, and wanted to take a pic of me. Normally I don't approve of photos of me, for obvious reasons, but I'm allowing this one to post, maybe since half my head is cut off. lol

project 365 - day 302

Cheer Jam was great! The girls did SUCH a good time. I am so proud of all of our squads. Cole's squad is too young to officially compete, but their performance was awesome, even though they were by far one of the smallest squads, with only five girls. I have video, gotta put that up, but for now here's a pic from the stands. Since I am team mom, I was sitting over with the girls rather than with the fans. Loud, but fun.

project 365 - day 301

Football is over. Hard to believe. Today was the last game of the season. And a home game, at that, which is always nice! The boys had a great year, as did the girls with cheer. On one hand, I am glad to get my life back, but on the other hand, you really do miss all these people that you've spent four days a week with for three months. Though tomorrow is cheer jam, so I will still be spending the ENTIRE day with the squad. Go Sharks!

project 365 - day 300

We had the kid's school carnival. Always a good time, of course. It's nice to catch up with the parents that I used to see on a regular basis at the pool but now haven't seen in a month or so. One of the booths was doing face painting and hair coloring. I was against this, not just to be the fun police, but because we've been down this road before, and the hair coloring lasts approx. 68 seconds before Owen starts sweating and it's suddenly all over his clothes, his face, in his eyes, etc. Naturally I was overruled. So be it. I'll just be thankful the child is old enough to bathe himself.

project 365 - day 299

Mr. Jasper is really slowing down. He's not very energetic anymore at all. In fact, pretty much the only thing he is enthusiastic about is his food. He's still a fan of that. The boys get dry food morning and night, but in the morning they also get canned on top of that. I started doing that I think back when Jazz went on insulin, because I needed to make sure he ate before he had his shot. Now he's hooked.

project 365 - day 298

Thank God this year is almost over, because I am truly running out of things to take a picture for. I don't think I'll have the stamina to do P365 again next year. But I'm a little torn, because I do so enjoy a challenge. Hmmm...what to do...? Anyway, today's photo is Nicole with her Dora doll. This doll got no attention for a couple years, but now for some reason it's back, and Nicole has taken to doing her hair. Maybe I need to get her one of those Barbie style heads like I had when I was a kid. I loved that thing.

project 365 - day 297

I don't know why, but Rico really does LOVE his cage. He's the first dog I've ever had a cage for, I guess because I always thought it seemed kind of mean, like a punishment. But those that know me know what a terror Rico was as a pup, and how much he completely demolished this house, so we decided we just had to have a cage. And we've never used it as punishment, it's always just been "bed". Now that he's older, of course, he doesn't have to sleep in there if he doesn't want to, but he chooses to. And I guess we're all strange enough that we like to climb in there with him sometimes. Rico doesn't mind, esp. if it's me in there. He does love his momma. Perry thinks we're all insane, but whatever, he just doesn't get it!

project 365 - day 296

Today was the first actual cold day of school the kids have had. They actually look pretty cute in their "cold weather" uniforms. Thankfully it'll warm up again for the rest of the week, because I am not quite sure I'm ready for them to have to be bundled every single day.

Sunday, October 18, 2009

project 365 - day 295

Alright, we officially own everything now. This is a "Beertender", aka a little mini keg holder/tap. Seriously. We were at my mom's, and went into Bed Bath and Beyond and saw this. Thought it was kinda cool, so grammy bought it for us. It's holds 5 liter kegs of Heineken Light. I suppose if we have a bar and a wine fridge, we might as well have a keg, too. Rock on. Party at my place.

project 365 - day 294

Our last away game of the season!! Woohoo! I am so going to miss the season, but I am not going to miss the long, long drives.

Friday, October 16, 2009

project 365 - day 293

I moved some stuff around, again, in the dining room. I am kinda digging the R and the ginormous candle on top of the tall wine shelf.

Thursday, October 15, 2009

project 365 - day 292

Owen, Perry, and pretty much all the kids and coaches from their football team are going to the Bulls/Cincinnati game. They rescheduled practice and everything. I am sure it'll be fun. Nicole and I didn't go, because we had parent/teacher night at school. And because I don't particularly care about either team, so I don't feel much need to sit at the game (sorry Bulls fans!)

project 365 - day 291

As I think I predicted in my post with the flowers on the porch, I killed the first batch quite quickly. So I've bought some more flowers (thank God flowers are cheap at Home Depot) and I'm giving it another shot. Maybe I should start taking bets as to how long till I kill these ones. FWIW, I actually like these ones better.

project 365 - day 290

One of my latest creations. I saw this pendant at Michael's and I decided I had to build something around it. I am really happy with how it turned out. Not that I even wear a ton of blue, but maybe I will have to start! I made a couple stretchy bracelets to go with it, too. Now I just have to make some earrings and I'll be all set.

Monday, October 12, 2009

project 365 - day 289

Tonight at practice, the girls from all the squads had to get together for a photo for the cheer jam brochure or catalog or whatever it is that they are printing. So naturally I took the opportunity to snap a couple pictures of them all myself, too.

Sunday, October 11, 2009

project 365 - day 288

The kids and their best friends from down the street had a huge water balloon fight today. They had a great time. It's insane how I can spend FOREVER filling water balloons, only to have them gone in just a matter of minutes. But it's worth it, I suppose. Just not something I would care to do every weekend. Though I suppose the rarity of it is part of what makes it so much fun!

Saturday, October 10, 2009

project 365 - day 287

We had the make-up for the make-up for football/cheer pics today. The kids did great, it didn't rain (amazing!) and I got some great shots of them getting everyone ready for pics. Unfortunately one of our girls was out sick so she missed the pics, and one of our other girls has dropped off the squad. So our squad was looking pretty tiny that day!!

project 365 - day 286

Just little bit being silly for the camera. She's quite the ham, when she wants to be.

Thursday, October 8, 2009

project 365 - day 285

Owen got Sea Monkeys for his birthday, and we've been doing a pretty good job of remembering to feed them every other day, as directed. They are getting pretty big. Kind of a neat thing, that there are critters in a packet that grow magically when you add water. I'm digging it. I know these have been around forever, but I don't remember ever having any when I was a kid. Maybe I did, but I kinda doubt it. My parents weren't pet kind of people. Maybe that's why I have so damn many - making up for lost time or something. Anyway, these little guys are nifty, but I don't have the slightest idea how long they will live for, so I figured if they are going to make the album, I better go ahead and take a picture of them now.

project 365 - day 284

Why does it seem like so many of the things I post about for my project 365 are ways/items to make my life easier?? Am I questing after the impossible? This one is another bag by Thirty-One (on sale this month for $5 with any $31 purchase!) and I had "cleaning" embroidered on it, though it's hard to see in this pic. My thinking was that I could put the cleaning stuff I need for the bathrooms in here, and then I have it all in one place so I'm not trying to gather everything up when I'm cleaning. I know, it'd be easier just to hire a maid, right?

Tuesday, October 6, 2009

project 365 - day 283

Here is another product I am hoping will be a lifesaver for me. Or if not a lifesaver, at least a huge time saver. Or if not a huge time saver, at least not quite the time suck as my last couponing tool. I have heard good things about The Couponizer, and I'm looking forward to giving it a whirl. And if I don't love it, I might just give up on coupons altogether, cause life is just too damn short for the hassle sometimes, ya know?

Monday, October 5, 2009

project 365 - day 282

Another new addition to the dining room, a wineglass rack and shelf from Southern Living. It seems from my posts like I am often adding decor to the dining room, and I suppose that is the case. Maybe because it's the only formal room of the house, and thus pretty much the only nice room of the house. And also pretty much the only room that isn't cluttered as hell with crap. I wish I could make the rest of my house this nice, but until I kick out the husband, kids, and pets, I just don't see it happening.

Sunday, October 4, 2009

project 365 - day 281

This is the largest bucket of Halloween candy on the planet. I went a tad overboard at Sam's. Those candy bags there are so big, I just didn't really realize quite how much was in them. At least I shouldn't run out though, right?

Saturday, October 3, 2009

project 365 - day 280

Another day at football. I get such great pictures of the cheerleaders, but it's often hard to capture actual plays in the game. So a lot of my shots end up being of the boys on the sidelines. It's just easier 1) to see what is going on; and 2) to actually FIND my kid in the mix. They're pretty little and that field is big. So anyway, here's mine and another, on the sidelines while the defense is in there.

Friday, October 2, 2009

project 365 - day 279

Another shot of Sherbert. I saw him over on the counter, eating out of a bowl Nicole had left up there (imagine that) and then I saw what he was eating. Fruit Loops. Seriously. I thought cats were supposed to be picky. I am thinking he never got that memo. Granted, this is the cat that also begs for dog food every morning before we give it to the dogs. He's an odd little furball.

project 365 - day 278

Awhile back I posted photos of the overflowing magazine rack in the guest room. This is another one, newly acquired to handle the magazines that people are in process of reading. The magazines that previous someone (read, Perry) would leave all over the kitchen table, counters, stools, etc. In yet another effort to combat the miscellaneous crap always laying around my house, I have purchased this. And it's cute. From Thirty-One, natch.
